The Carter House Inns is an enclave of four gracious inns bordering Humboldt Bay in Eureka, California's historic Old Town. Each Victorian unites contemporary good taste and luxurious amenities with the timeless elegance of a bygone era. The Inn's Restaurant 301 offers guests artfully prepared regional seasonal dining, replete with produce harvested from the Inn's own organic gardens. The 301 Wine List has been acknowledged by many to be one of the finest in the world, and has been awarded "Wine Spectator?s Grand Award," the publication's highest honor. Together, our Wine Cellar, garden-fresh cuisine, and luxurious Four Diamond accommodations create the Redwood Coast's most unforgettable hospitality experience. |

| Directions: |
From the South
US 101 is the primary means of road access to Eureka. Most of the distance from San Francisco is now freeway, with some short highway sections. As you leave the wine country of Sonoma County, you'll begin an unforgetable trip through the Redwoods, following the Eel River much of the way.
From the East
From Redding, Highway 299 passes through a number of historic gold-mining areas, then makes its way along the scenic Trinity River. State Routes 20 and 36 also are used for access from Highway 5, but are not recommended for large vehicles or motor homes.
From the North
For those traveling along the Oregon coast, U.S. 101 leads directly to Eureka. From the interior of Oregon, take U.S. 199 west to Crescent City from Interstate 5 at Grant's Pass. You'll be treated to magnificent views of the Smith River--designated one of the few remaining "wild" rivers in the contiguous 48 states.
