The Chalfonte is Victorian Cape Mays oldest continually operating hotel, and a National Historic Landmark, built in 1876 by Civil War Hero Colonel Henry Sawyer. Known for its family-friendly culture, home-style southern cooking, sweeping verandahs and rocking chairs, the Chalfonte is a traditional seasonal resort, featuring 70 rooms, original antiques, ceiling fans and louvered doors to promote ocean breezes. Rooms do not have air-conditioning, televisions or telephones, a perfect atmosphere for a restful and "technology free" vacation. The hotel features The Magnolia Room, open for Breakfast and Dinner and Children's Dining Room for our younger guests aged six and under. |
